NSYSA offers a free annual novice coach class for all volunteer recreational (fall) coaches. This class is generally scheduled for early to mid August each year and covers the basics for new coaches. Coaches will be contacted by the Director of Coach Training & Development and an announcement will be posted on the website when the class has been scheduled. Parents considering volunteering for coaching are also welcome.
Competitive Coaches
The North Smithfield Youth Soccer Association (NSYSA) will reimburse individuals who are current or future NSYSA coaches for completed soccer coaching courses. Soccer-RI whom NSYSA is affiliated with has coaching courses offered on their website which are eligible for reimbursement (view course descriptions). All coaches interested in applying should send an e-mail to Training@nsysa.org with their intent to register for a clinic so the Board can reimburse the fee upon completion of the course. When the coach has received their license certificate from SRI, he or she should forward a copy to the NSYSA Treasurer (via the NSYSA PO box) in order to receive their tuition reimbursement check.
