NSYSA is pleased to announce that we will be conducting tryouts for the 2014/15 Select season.  The Select season is comprised of session 1 & 2 indoor soccer at the Wide World of Indoor Sports North (WWIS) followed by the Rhode Island Youth Spring Super Liga season.  Teams will be formed based upon the age group that the child played in this 2014 Fall Rec season.

Select teams are chosen based on a comprehensive player evaluation process that runs close to year round.  NSYSA's Select Committee, Commissioners, Director of Training & Development, and Rankings Coordinator work in unison to provide Select coaches the most up to date rankings breakdown of each age group from which Select teams are built from.  NSYSA is excited to begin incorporating tryouts as yet another part of this process.

4th Annual NSYSA Food Drive

For the final three Saturdays of this fall recreation season, NSYSA will be collecting canned and non perishable foods to be donated to the North Smithfield Food Pantry. This is NSYSA's fourth year supporting this worthy cause. The food pantry is located at the Slatersville Congregational Church.

Currently the Food Bank is in need of soups, peanut butter, pasta and pasta sauce, but will accept all non-perishable items. The collection bin will be a large wooden box located under the bulletin board at the concession stand.

Thank you for your generosity!

Our Friends in Guatemala 2014 Trip

Recently, the Reyes and Cook families went on a week long trip to help our friends in Guatemala. They brought with them all the soccer cleats, balls and shirts you donated. There are many, many boys and girls in Guatemala that now have a ball and cleats to play their favorite sport - thanks to your generosity.

During the course of the week, the Reyes' and Cook's helped build a home for a single mom with children. See the pictures from the trip by clicking below. Thanks!!

Town Ordinance Reminder - No Pets on Fields
Dear NSYSA Players, Friends, & Families:

Our town Parks & Rec Director has requested we be a bit more diligent in following one of our Town Ordinances.

Specifically per Chapter 3/Section 3-7:  It is unlawful to allow or permit any animal on public parks or sports playing fields, whether or not restrained, except for service dogs (so called).

This ordinance applies to Pacheco Park and the NSES field complex, which are both town facilities.  The school department prohibits pets from the turf facility under their own separate policy.

In year's past when we failed to properly enforce this ordinance, one dog led to another and so on and so forth until there were on average 10 pets at the field on any given Saturday during Fall Rec.  This scenario unfortunately did lead to one of our children getting bit at the fields, so I'm sure you'll understand our sensitivity to this request.

Best Regards,
North Smithfield Youth Soccer Association
